Mat Steinwede is a leader among real estate agents across Australia and New Zealand, maintaining the achievement as ‘#1 Agent’ across the massive Mcgrath network of agents for the past several years.
In-demand as a speaker and mentor, on top his ‘day job’ heading up a large agency on the NSW Central Coast, the obvious solution for Mat was to create his own subscription-based video training course.
The technical challenge of this site was to provide high deliverability video content, and yet be gated to subscribers only. And with subscribers often jumping between desktop and mobile platforms, the site had to work seamlessly on all platforms and maintain a digital ‘bookmark’, so you can watch on one device and then pickup from same part of a lesson on another device.
Rather than ‘re-invent the wheel’, I chose to extend existing services offered by Vimeo (for video content delivery), Paid Memberships Pro (basic membership functions) and Stripe (which offers one-time and recurring subscription payments).
Quite a lot of effort was put into the custom WordPress plugin that allows the dozens of tutorial videos to be segmented into 12 weeks of ‘lessons’ and keeps track of how far an individual subscriber is progressed through the lessons.
The WordPress theme was custom built to make it simple to use, allowing subscribers to jump between weeks and also download assets associated with that weeks lesson.
